Friday officially closed the Cedar Hill era of our lives as we finally closed on our house at 312 Breseman. We turned over the mail box keys and the garage door openers and walked away from the place we called home for 22 years -- longer than any other place I've lived in my 61 years.
The new owners are a couple maybe our age who have an adult son with some kind of learning disability. We didn't meet them at the closing since I didn't arrive back in town until later Friday afternoon. Julie and I went to the title company and signed the papers after the new owners had done so that morning.
We have many happy memories of our years in Cedar Hill. Mom and I will continue to attend Good Shepherd Church for the foreseeable future, so we haven't completely severed ties.
We didn't make any money on the house, but happy memories may be much more valuable in the long run.

It was a wonderful house in which to grow up (I find it impossible to avoid ending that sentence on a preposition!). That said, while you're "cliffhanging" in Granbury, you can't miss it too much! -- Michael
there is some nostalgia for the past and to the degree those feelings are anchored to place, one can't help but feel a sadness that these place-times are over. But the Granbury house was built for family times together, too
